Le Forbici di Manitù

Biography

Manitù Rossi is a mysterious character that lives in the heart of the Italian countryside and has always cultivated only two divouring interests, music and God (in their more scabrous aspects). Since 1983 he has tried to channel his inclinations into the work of Le Forbici di Manitù (Manitou’s Scissors). To do so, through the years he has recruited in the ranks of the group some of the most awkwardly ingenious personalities of the Italian underground, including Satana Cianciulli (outsider noise-maker and would-be serial killer), Enrico Marani (photo/graphic artist and audio-sculptor) and Vittore Baroni (mail artist and counter-culture vulture). In over twenty years of enigmatic activities and more than seven albums recorded for respected Italian and international labels, the band has become a legend on its own terms, refusing to follow trends while proving to be well versed in the most disparate musical idioms, from luscious trance-ambient to monumental sci-fi soundtracks, from conceptual noise to neo-prog chamber music, from techno-glitch to situ-plagiarist lounge.
